Ravenna Planning Guides

One Day in Ravenna from the Cruise Port

A clock-aware mosaic day that respects the road back to the ship.

This sample plan assumes a typical 8–10 hour port window and roughly 30 minutes each way between Porto Corsini and Ravenna centre. Adjust earlier if your all-aboard is tight.

On arrival: clear the ship, meet taxi or pre-booked transfer, aim to be on the road within 30–45 minutes of gangway opening.

Morning: San Vitale plus Mausoleum of Galla Placidia when combination tickets allow — these interiors set the day's tone.

Midday: lunch near Piazza del Popolo — piadina, pasta or simple trattoria; avoid a long sit-down menu if afternoon monuments matter.

Afternoon: Neonian Baptistery or Sant'Apollinare Nuovo depending on ticket and energy — not both if return time is shrinking.

Return: leave Ravenna city no later than 3–3.5 hours before all-aboard on conservative planning; traffic and taxi availability vary.

Do not attempt Bologna or San Marino after this plan — they are separate excursion days.

One Day in Ravenna from the Cruise Port — FAQs

Is this plan safe for a 6-hour port call?

It becomes tight once transfers eat two hours — consider one monument only or skip independent travel.
